How far along: 34 weeks
Size of baby: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
Total Weight Gain / Loss: Ok here goes... I am up a whopping 34 lbs from what I was pre-pregnancy. Whoa!!
Gender: Sweet baby GIRL.
Movement: Still poking me all over.
What I miss: Being able to whiten my teeth. I haven't touched my Crest White Strips since the beginning and I am just appalled at how yellow my teeth are getting... Ughh. Can't wait to be able to take care of that as soon as she's out.
Sleep: This week we've been recovering from jet lag so it hasn't been fantastic. Not too bad overall though.
Symptoms: Nothing new.
Cravings: Crusty bread with chive/garlic cream cheese... Yumm... My Swiss addiction.
Best moment of this week:Getting all our boxes with baby stuff, and organizing everything in the nursery! Yay!
What are we looking forward to: My doc appointment on the 24th. Some important info will be determined then.
Randoms: After my last doc visit we found out she was still head up, bottom down, right in my pelvis, and there really no chance that she would flip to head down at this point... The doc said chances were like 2-3% after 33 weeks. She is full breech and will most likely remain that way. That means that most likely she will have to be delivered via a scheduled c-section. Not exactly what we were planning but it's not like we have much choice. It was a shock to hear it at first, but as I am learning more and more about it, I am starting to get used to the idea and feel a little more comfortable. At my next appointment the doctor will make a decision about trying a "version" which is a type of a massage/compression exercise, where he and an attendant try to push on the belly and flip the baby to head down. The procedure is done at my hospital, just in case the baby goes into distress and they have to deliver her immediately... I guess I will have to pack my hospital bag just in case. Chances of success are 60-65%. More than 50/50 so there is still hope, but I am still mentally preparing myself for the c-section. One definite good thing about a scheduled c/s is that I would know the due date with precise certainty. We'll see what happens.
In other news - Last Friday we started with our prenatal class. All people attending are expecting their first babies and only 2 opted for a gender surprise. What I like about it - the center where the class is held, is literally 5 minutes walking distance from our house! Ha! We will go there for 5 consecutive weeks (2 hours on Friday evenings). Should be fun.
And here is the 34 week picture. I feel like I need a cart to wheel this thing around!!

Mada you look awesome!!! Thanks for sending me your link,I'll be checking in on ya :-)
Hi Mada,
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I did talk to Leah yesterday and she told me and I came to the blog to read about it. I do agree with what you are saying and will ask the doctor again on Friday. He just didn't sound too optimistic about the situation given he would be the actual one doing the version. I have been mentally preparing for a c-section as well so either way I am okay with how this is going to go down. I'll keep you posted and good luck with yours as well.
