First weekend at the cabin

The weekend we moved in was also the first longer weekend we spent at the cabin. The weather turned out fabulous, and we took advantage of the timing and visited a pumpkin patch, took a tractor ride, bought some apples and enjoyed the fall leaves at a nearby park. What a wonderful family trip! We're already feel like getting this house was the right thing to do for our family!

We bought a cabin!

After talking about this, planning and saving for several years, we finally pulled the trigger and bought a house in the mountains, aka The Cabin. It was a long process, as we tried a few other houses before this one, and something always got in the way. But finally, we found the perfect place and things worked out, and now we are proud owners of a new construction, mountains house in Blowing Rock. It's not the rustic cabin way out in the woods that CJ originally wanted, but we both realized that this location is far superior to some remote places we viewed, and there is something to be said for having a brand new construction house, with high end finishes and still lots of mountain-y charm, which requires no work on our part, just putting our stuff in and being able to enjoy the mountains. Here are some pics from the buying phase, so everything in there belongs to the builder. We already spent 3 weekends there and we look forward to making some wonderful memories with our kids.

School pictures 2014

Katherine's school had a professional photographer come in this year to take all the kids' formal shots. I just love how they all came out, they look so cute and old fashioned!
