Interlaken trip - Part 2

Continued from a few weeks ago...

I took you throught the point in the trip where we were exploring the town, we went by the Grand Hotel Victoria Jungfrau and the schwingen competition.

After that we decided to make our way to the next town over, Grindelwald, where we were staying for the night. By the time we were done exploring Interlaken it became pretty clear that going up to the Jungfrau complex the next morning might be a bit of a challenge. It kept getting more and more overcast and it clearly looked like it might rain any minute. You can kind of see the change happening if you look back at the Part 1 pictures... When we started it was gorgeous and sunny, by the time we were at the fairgrounds it was pretty gray and cloudy. And since Jungfrau is about 13,000 high, rain in the valley means blizzard (and no good views) on top. We missed our chance to go up.

We got to the super cute hotel and caught some last glimpses of the the snow covered mountain and glacier from our balcony.

Then the guys went out to check out the town, get some beers and dinner and I went to sleep because I was exhausted at that point. Pregnancy... What can you do.

The next morning we woke up to a full on downpour so any attempt at going up the mountain was out of the question. Even though you go there by covered train and pretty much the whole time you can stay out of the elements, the tickets are pricey enough that it's just not worth going unless you're guaranteed amazing wiews. Which is not going to happen in thick clouds.

So we had breakfast at the hotel and started heading back home.
On the way we stopped in Bern again and checked out the Bear Caves. That was pretty cool to see again.

I was pretty bummed that #1 we never got to see the Jungfrau and #2 that Christian did not get to see it after he came all this way to visit us. Oh well, what can you do right? Weather is weather and we can't control it.
