Famous at 22 months old!

Over the holidays Katherine had a doctor appointment at the Children's Hospital down in Charlotte (no worries she is totally fine!) and something really cool happened while we were there.

She's been really fearful of doctors and doc offices and anything to do with that ever since she had a bad experience with her flu shot back in October. At that time, she twitched just as the nurse was inserting the needle and I guess it was really painful and left a bad memory of the doc office. Up till then she had no issues and actually loved seeing the furry monkeys they have hanging all over their office and of course she loved getting tons of stickers every time we went. Not now though.

We were late for the appointment so we had to wait for the next open spot and during that time Katherine was able to play in the waiting room. It was actually done in a great non-threatening way, colorful walls, lots of toys etc.

Well suddenly we started hearing all kinds of ruckus coming from downstairs. The receptionist looked out and said that the entire UNC Football team was there doing some promo publicity stuff. They were visiting with the kids, taking photos with people, handing out toys etc. Their mascot, the massive Belkie Bear was with them.

This was all related to the College Football Belk Bowl which was being played that week in Charlotte. CJ took Katherine downstairs and they scored some freebies, couple of plush bears and an autographed football. Pretty cool! Then we headed back to our appointment.
After it was over we headed out but before we left we stopped in the main lobby where the UNC kids were gone, but now the other team, the Cincinnati Bearcats were there doing pretty much the same thing. So again, everyone wanted to take pictures with the cute little girl and they were all talking to us etc.
And just as we were heading to the door one of the players turned to us and handed Katherine a team sticker. She loves stickers so she was very happy to get it. She was saying 'Go Bearcats!' and they were all loving it.
We tried Tarheels but she didn't really want to say that. I guess anything to do with bears and cats sounds better to a toddler.

Well CJ said, just watch I bet they are going to show the footage from the hospital visit on TV during the bowl game, and sure enough, come Saturday, we saw this:
HOW COOL IS THAT!!! This is ESPN people! Our munchkin made her tv debut on national tv at 22 months old! I even filmed this bit so that she can see herself some day and be impressed that she was on tv at such a young age.
