Couple of weekends ago we took a family day trip to the Asheboro Zoo. We went on Sunday first thing in the morning which turned out to be a great decision. The weather was perfect and there was no traffic on the way there or back and there were no crowds. We had a great time! Katherine loved all the animals. I highly recommend this place to anyone with kids. The size is manageable and there is enough variety of animals that makes it all interesting and worth the trip.
The park is divided into two exhibits - Africa and North America, and there is a shuttle running between the two parts, so that you can park in one spot and get around without having to move your car. Also, there is a new "village" type place in the middle with an interactive dinosaur exhibit and a merry-go-round so that older kids can have some extra fun. We skipped that part.
Here are some pictures.
It's crazy to think that the last time we were so close to wild animals it was in their natural habitat in South Africa!!!
