New dining table

With all the other updates at our house it was also time to finally buy a dining set for our dining room. When we bought this house, the previous owners had a nice (but slightly damaged and smallish) table and four chairs here. They left those here as part of the deal, so we did not need anything right away. Then when we came back from Switzerland and were selling our red couches, the family who bought them also wanted to take the table. We were bot planning to get rid if it just then, but when the people came to get the couches they said 'how much would you sell the table for?' So we thought ok why not. And since then we were using the tiny, antique table with drop sides which we had used in Geneva. It was way too small! Plus we didn't have chairs for it because we sold those too. Now I had been eye balling this particular dining set from World Market for a loooooong time and when it finally went on sale last month we jumped on it and got it! It is very large, heavy and feels like great quality solid wood. We love it! It will serve nicely for our large Thanksgiving dinners which we used to host and we're planning to reinstate this year.
Here it is!

Katherine helped daddy put it together. This kid is earning her keep around here.

Now with the new set there I am starting to think that I might have to change the rug and curtains to make the room a bit lighter. There is so much dark wood there now that it feels a bit dark to me... Here are my current ideas. What do you think? Change it or leave as is?
