Blandonnet

Now presenting: Our new office!

On April 1, Newell moved into the new permanent office (they were in a temporary space up till then) in a new business park / shopping center called Blandonnet Centre. It's a gorgeous complex, still under construction and waiting for landscaping to be done.
This is a shot from the outside. Pay attention to the shape of the building - long sides and a rounded tower - called "the bubble" - on the corner.

The building has an on-site cafeteria (with very expensive very French food) and there is talk about a gym coming in the future... But who knows.

We occupy the first 4 floors I believe... Not sure about Floor 1. Floor 2 will house our largest meeting spaces and auditorium to be used for company wide events, communication meetings, etc.

Floor 3 is the home of Tools & Hardware (Cory's area) and Europe Platform support (HR and Execs). Floor 4 has Office Products and Baby & Parenting (my company).

Here are some shots from our respective work areas.

Cory sits in the long part of the building to the right of the corner bubble. There are no individual offices. Everyone has semi-cubes and desks. This is his desk and then a view of the entire floor. It's really odd. It kind of feels like school desks next to each other. He is sitting next to a guy called The Strudel and across from him sits his boss, Stephan. I told him ne needs to build walls around his desk with some tall product display shelves / boards.

This is my desk. I think I got lucky in this case. First of all, my entire team sits in the Bubble on the 4th floor. Second, my desk is really private and secured. I face the windows and have meeting / conference rooms behind my back. Pretty nice. I especially like the built in planter next to my desk. I was planning to buy a plant for my desk but obviously I won't be needing one. Ha!

It's odd but at lesat everyone gets a lovely view of the mountains as in here... :)

The CoOp is a local Harris Teeter. This particular one has a nice cafeteria inside and is open till 7pm during the week which by the way is not normal in Switzerland. Everything here closes at 6pm and nothing is open on Sundays. It will be nice to have a convenient spot like this to do after work food shopping.

Of course not to forget the lovely view of Jura Mountains, the Geneva airport conveniently located 10 miutes away (you can see the planes from our office).

And if you look the other way we have.... Pure happines!
