Nyon

On the way back from the Cow Festival we stopped in a little town of Nyon. That's where we changed from a tiny train which went high up into the Jura Mountains into the normal train which was to take us back to Geneva.

I've been to Nyon once before, back in the summer, when a friend of ours, Ally, was visiting for the weekend. That time I took the cruise boat from Geneva to Yvoire and Nyon. I will have to drag CJ the same route soon and then we'll post pictures...

Anywho, we got off the little train and walked through the town. It turned out they were having some sort of a festival, no doubt to take advantage of the abnormally high number or tourists in the area (who were originally going to the Cow Fest but also stopping in Nyon).

We saw a number of really cool old cars and motorcycles...

A bunch of stands with miscellaneous items being sold, clothes, jewelry, trinkets.

Lots of food stands, like this paella stand...

Or the sausage stand which CJ tried out and loved!

Or a crepe stand which had this ginormous jar of Nutella for use as topping for the crepes... Wouldn't you want to have one at home?...

We made our way down the streets towards the lakefront (Nyon is situated on a hillside sloping towards the lake).

Our final stop was a little Crepe Shop called Le Tac-Oh (huh? taco??) where we had a lovely lunch. The crepes only LOOK boring... they are stuffed full of ham, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes etc... Yummm!

After that we climbed back up to the center of town and hopped on the train home. Really nice and convenient.
