South Africa trip - Flight down

We're back safe and sound from our SA trip and I am getting down to the tough task of documenting everything we've done there...

We flew Egypt Air down to Cairo (4 hrs) and from there to Johannesburg (8 hrs). It was our first time on non-western airlines and it was certainly interesting. We bought my ticket with miles and I was lucky enough to sit with CJ in business class. But let me tell ya, business class on Egypt Air is not the same as on regular airlines... The planes are Boeuings, sure, but they're pretty old and beat up. But here are some interesting shots I took of the plane and then the Cairo airport....

Me and the belly in all our glory...

Gold seatbelt buckles...

Prayer to Allah before we took off... played on the monitors before the normal airline safety instructions...

Cairo airport necessity - prayer area....

CJ had some genuine Egyptian Stella...

And when we bought something and the lady did not have change to give us, we got these fabulous Egyptian Chicklets instead!

Food was pretty interesting to say the least. In business, they normally fead you a whole meal, with an appetizer, salad, cheese and then main course and dessert. Well on all 4 Egypt Air flights (both flights down and both flights back) the appetizer consisted of some interesting pickled fish. Main course was ok - a little lower quality than typical Economy food. But you can imagine how lovely the entire place smelled after they brought out the fish to everyone... Oy!!...
Oh and they do not serve any alcohol. CJ's co-worker who was also coming along asked for a glass of wine with dinner and got the 3rd degree from the flight attendant...

But the important thing is that we made it down and back safely and on time. Not sure the guys will fly Egypt Air againg though...
