The second day of our Glacier Express adventure was the day on the panoramic train. We left from St. Moritz around 9am and travelled through the gorgeous Swiss countryside for most of the day. We had a delicious gourmet lunch served at our seats on board of the train (unfortunately it looks like I misplaced the pictures of our full plates...) as we rolled through valleys and hills and looked out the huge windows. Katherine was a good girl for most of the day. She took two naps in her stroller which we thankfully brought along, and had a good time as far as we could tell.
In the evening we rolled into the picturesque town of Zermatt, home of the most famous Swiss mountain, Matterhorn, the one which is featured on Toblerones and on pretty much all other Swiss candy and souvenirs.
We took a little stroll around the town and stopped in one of the small restaurants for dinner. Katherine got really cranky around that time because she was tired so we headed back and went to sleep pretty early. We needed to get a goon night of sleep before the next day which was to be our a pretty busy day, all devoted to exploring Zermatt, hiking and walking around.
Here are some pictures from our ride.
Our quad of seats. We were pretty comfortable the entire time.
View down the car we were in... Gives you an idea why it is called a panoramic train. All these windows!
Look at this bold baby head! So crazy to think how tiny she was then...
